To celebrate our birthday, we’re featuring several of our favorite brands throughout the month of October. To kick things off, we chatted with Jamie Grimstad, Co-Founder & CEO of Favour Gum. Read on to learn more about Jamie, her brand’s mission and how Favour Gum can be an important part of your self-care routine. Check back later this month for more FastAF brand features.
Q: For those who don’t know, tell us a little about yourself and Favour Gum.
JG: I’m Jamie, Co-Founder + CEO of Favour: we’re a functional chewing gum company, powered by CBD and other good-for-you ingredients, empowering you to feel (and function) like your best-self. I started Favour in early 2020 with my mom, Gigi, and family friend, Margaret, on a mission to not only find a solution for CBD use, but also to simplify self-care.
Q: What inspired you to create Favour?
JG: I’ve been an athlete my entire life, and was actually recruited to Columbia for cross country and track & field. It didn’t take long into my freshman year to realize that I was not taking care of myself and my body, in a way that was harmful to my physical and mental health.
I quickly realized how this momentum was affecting my physical body, mood, and day-to-day — not to mention, the people around me. I dabbled with therapy, and began experimenting with CBD, soon to realize that it was really helping to pull me out of this negative cycle, and give me my vibrancy back. The one thing that was missing throughout my process, was a single product that I could pull out of my pocket every day and rely on. So this, really, was the impetus for creating Favour. The reliability of a piece of Favour is something that I feel so grateful for, and I’m on a mission to share that with everyone.
Q: September was Self Improvement Month. Based on your inspiration to create the company, could you discuss how this month specifically resonates with your brand, product, and overall mission?
JG: Self-care is a top priority for me, and always has been. At Favour, we truly believe that taking care of yourself can be as easy as chewing a piece of gum. We’ve really focused our messaging around being that “favour” that you need throughout the day: to pick you out of a mid-week slump, to help with those aches and pains that limit you from feeling your best-self, or to calm your nerves so that you can perform your best. Sometimes the term “self-care” seems daunting and overwhelming; it’s difficult for most of us to carve out the “me” time that’s really needed. The reality is that we’re all juggling busy schedules and constantly on-the-go. So, we want to help eliminate the daily stress of having to schedule designated time for self-care, by providing you with a product that you can pull out of your pocket anytime, anywhere. Self-care should ultimately be stress-less, and we’re on a mission to help solve that.
Q: In what ways do your products relate to self care, and can you talk about how self care resonates with you?
JG: As a tool for self-care in the realm of mental health & stress management, reliability is non-negotiable — so we created Favour with you in mind. Not only are we trying to simplify self-care, but we’re also helping to re-imagine the way that you take your everyday supplements. Out of all the CBD products out there, it’s really our delivery system, chewing gum, that sets us apart from the rest. Chewing gum (an oral delivery method) allows for a more effective delivery of ingredients, as it bypasses the digestive system allowing for both greater and faster absorption. A piece of Favour ensures consistency, reliability, and comfort.
Q: One way to focus on self improvement is by giving back to the community. Can you talk more about how/ if your company is doing this?
JG: We could not agree more! I think that our name, “Favour” encompasses this very idea — and it’s something that we kept in mind. A pack of chewing gum is something familiar and straight-forward; it’s something that you always have with you, to bring yourself pleasure — and most often, to share with a friend. We’ll soon be rolling out a way to send your friend(s) a Favour upon receiving your order — a simple way to not only prioritize your own self-care, but to also keep that friend in mind who might need a bit of extra love.
We created Favour to feel like relief — a helping hand that’s offered up joyously. So, as we continue to grow and evolve our business, I would love to be able to work more closely with organizations related to mental health — but ultimately, through our messaging, content, and product(s), we want to encourage self-love, amongst our customers and community.
Q: What is something you hope FastAF users will gain from your product?
JG: We’re so excited to be partnering with FastAF because it’s helped us get Favour to you faster, in those unexpected moments where you truly do need a favour. We can only hope that Favour can bring FastAF users a daily dose of happiness, whenever they need it most — whether it’s during a stressful day, on the way to a meeting, or even when you’re trying to de-stress a little bit extra on the weekends. Anyone, anytime, anywhere can benefit from the simple act of chewing a piece of gum.
